Amata commends CSM Iuni Savusa on his promotion to rank of Command Sergeant Major of the United States Army Europe and Seventh Army
April 30, 2006

Aumua Amata today offered hearty congratulations to Command Sergeant Major Iuniasolua Savusa on his promotion to CSM of the U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army.

Said Amata, "Iuni's reputation as a brave Samoan warrior stands tall not only in our islands but throughout the military community. His village of Nuuuli and indeed all of American Samoa is extremely proud of their son. This war hero has set the example especially for our youth to look up to."

Amata added, "I regret that I will not be in the theater until after his promotion ceremony, a particularly significant occasion on May 5 but hope to be able to personally congratulate him. In the meanwhile I extend my fondest best personal wishes to Iuni, his beautiful wife Mareta and four loving children as well as his entire family and his siblings. His late sister Salaina was my dear friend from childhood days growing up in Nuuuli---I'll bet she's smiling down on her brother's stellar achievements."

Aumua Amata concluded by saying, "I am deeply touched and feel awed and humbled that this is the kind of stuff our soldiers such as CSM Savusa are made of. He has made history and demonstrated how far a person can go if he or she has the will and the determination. He truly is a role model for all our people here at home." Malo Taupati."
